Debbie Mahler

First, a brief introduction to me. I’m the host of this blog/web site, Debbie Mahler. You may know my from my other websites or my business, MICE Training & Education.  Or, perhaps you know me from your online college courses with Education to Go. Either way, that is me.

The story of how I became interested in metaphysics to begin with is a long and involved one. Over time, I hope to explain it as I introduce you to the journey of a seeker.

I first purchased this domain name to put up short stories I’d written about what if we took metaphysics to the nth degree and pushed the envelope? What would that look like? And I do plan to include those stories here for entertainment purposes.

However, over time I realized that I’ve been called upon to do more than just write short, fictional, entertaining tales. Many people in the family, close friends, and now, even outsiders from my immediate circle are asking me for advice along their newly discovered spiritual walk.

One of my initial first teachers was Jay Driskell and some of you may know him from MoreFromRondout. Because Jay has moved on to the next reality, I dedicate this site to him.

But Jay appeared as my student in a web design course I was teaching at the College of Lake County. Little did I know that he was my teacher in disguise!

Jay’s former non-denominational newsletter was one of constant inspiration to many people and his website held great wisdom for those who began their journey. The journey of a soul. Since he’s moved on, that information and wisdom is no longer available, which is why I feel compelled to start this site and blog.

Many teachers have come and gone in my life since that initial web design class many, many years ago.  Some, are still around and I will introduce you to them. Others have blatantly turned their back on the journey and have slipped once again into the human experience fully.  Still others are evolving to greater heights. You will have the chance to meet all these souls who travel with us in this journey of the soul.

I also want to state that this is not a site about organized religion in any way. That is the one thing that I need to make clear.  If I had to put a label on my belief system, you can choose to call me Gnostic. That will be something else I will explain in the future.

My tenants of faith are very simple.

1. There exists a power beyond our human understanding that we perceive as a spirit being.
2. We are spirit beings having a human experience.
3. Many great spiritual beings have come before us which includes, Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha, and many others.
4. Many great spiritual beings are still here and history has yet to record their contribution.
   

That’s it. Pure and simple. You can choose to call this power beyond our human understanding, God, Allah, Vishnu, Shiva, Great Spirit, Source, Universe, Jehovah, or whatever name you feel comfortable with.

And just for the record, I was raised a Catholic, left the church when I was excommunicated for a divorce in 1975, became a born again Christian, was a commissioned Southern Baptist Sunday School teacher and have the papers to prove it. I moved to Pentecostal and then to the Church of Christ. I have studied with the Jehovah’s Witness, Church of the Later Day Saints (Mormon), Christian Science, Unity, Judaism, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopalian, Islam, and 7th Day Adventists. So I am no stranger to organized religion which is what all these labels apply to.

So, please don’t feel you have to send me hate mail or comments about how I am going to hell in a hand basket. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. (No disrespect intended at all. Just commenting from my own experience.)
